Congratulations to Dana from Colorado for the being the proud new owner of Peking Robin.  She will finally have a chance to become the show horse I know she can be.

I had some film to use up after shooting the video on WionaChamp, so I got a few shots of DonaChamp in her field with Peking Robin.

A short video has been added to WionaChamp’s page showing her walk and canter. Video was taken in September, 2008.

I had a request for head shots of WionaChamp. So, here are a bunch of pictures that I took last night in the pasture. New video will be coming soon.

Our whole region was hit with a wind storm on Sunday afternoon. Broken tree branches and sometimes even whole trees were laying in yards, on the roads and on houses. We had a good deal of damage on the farm. The roofing on both the horse barn and hay barn required repair, we lost gutters from the house and had a broken window in the barn. There were also two trees blocking the driveway. But there were no injuries, human or animal, so all in all we made it through allright.

We’re currently on our fifth day without power or water. We’ve been hauling close to 100 gallons of water each day from a hand pump down the road for the horses and goats. We’ve also been filling old milk jugs and coolers with city water for our own use. We’re coming up with all sorts of creative solutions to deal with the situation. A bucket punched with holes is serving as a shower. An old piece of TV antennae has been hooked up to our portable radio so we can get a better signal inside. And the burner of our propane grill is our main cooking apparatus.

According to rumors going around the neighborhood, we won’t be getting power until Sunday or Monday. Since there are still power lines laying in the roads, trees laying on top of other lines and no sign of a single DP&L employee, I’m starting to believe the rumors.

Underwood Family Farms in Moorepark, CA apparently has an elevated goat house, which by all modern standards, is completely awesome. If you are in the area you should really stop by and check this out. Also, wear a hat.
